Burn the Box: Be a Resourceful Learning Professional
Have you ever been asked by a client to: Create impactful onboarding training with a limited budget and without an LMS? Evaluate the impact of training on the organization’s bottom line?  Present product information in an engaging and impactful way?  That’s what this interactive, engaging session is about - solving those difficult, but surprisingly common, challenges in creative and innovative ways.

Whether you are an employee or an independent consultant, the challenges presented to learning professionals are not that different. You will need to leverage your resourcefulness and apply new learning strategies to create effective learning solutions.
During this session, you will hear examples of how two experienced learning consultants leveraged their resourcefulness as part of corporate learning teams and as independent consultants. You’ll also have an opportunity to share your experiences and learn from others about how to apply new learning strategies and tools to solve these and other Learning and Development challenges.  You will take away valuable tools and ideas to make you a Resourceful Learning Professional.

Margaret Brown, (MBA, CTDP), President Embee Consulting is an award-winning (Award of Excellence – I4PL), passionate and innovative Learning & Development Leader with over 20 years of learning and leadership experience as a corporate learning leader and as an independent consultant. She successfully builds strategies, develops teams and creates training and change management programs for established and start-up companies in a variety of industries. Margaret brings a unique perspective to her training having operational leadership experience in Customer Service and Sales in addition to her extensive design and facilitation experience. Her strong business acumen allows her to relate to her clients from both a customer and learner perspective.

Karen Smith, (CTDP), President Rosswood Consulting is a Learning Strategist with in-depth knowledge of program development gained over her 20+ years working with management teams to achieve their developmental goals. She has worked in a variety of industries including Banking, Retail, Advertising, Security, Telecommunications, and High Tech. Karen is skilled in blended learning solutions, needs analysis, learner assessment, instructional design/development, and program evaluation. Her passion for effective learning solutions has allowed her to lead effective teams toward engaging client-focused learning solutions.
Karen also volunteers her time with the I4PL as Co-Chair of the Member Experience Committee, Toronto Chapter.
