Business Intelligence for Learning: Leveraging Your LMS for Needs Assessment and Evaluation

Learning Management Systems contain vital corporate knowledge. Regrettably, many learning organizations are not leveraging them to their fullest capability. A well implemented system can be optimized to conduct training needs analyses for learning design and development purposes, and also Level 3 job impact survey evaluations to measure the effectiveness of learning. This information is crucial business intelligence to any learning team. In this session you will hear how a large government department like the Department of National Defence has been able to leverage their SABA LMS to do this.
This session is geared towards any learning or HR professional looking to hear how an enterprise LMS can be utilized effectively to pull this information and other important learning business intelligence.

About the Presenter:
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Lam has held various positions with the Department of National Defence (DND). With the Materiel Group, she was the Section Head - Materiel Acquisition & Support, Learning, Training and Professional Development (MA&S LTPD), where she structured the organization to support the growing need to institutionalize the concept of a skilled and educated cadre of MA&S practitioners. She was also the Executive Assistant to the Materiel Group Chief of Staff.
With ADM HR-Civ, as the Project Director for the Defence Learning Network, Ms. Lam was responsible for enabling the business implementation of a common enterprise learning management platform for the Defence Team. Her work was recognized with a Vision Award - Future Human Resource Leader nomination. As a Learning Consultant, she was also recognized for her contribution in the launch of the DND Mentoring Program.
Before coming to DND, Ms. Lam was with the Canada School of Public Service and championed the use of learner support tools while establishing non-statutory language training programs in Environment Canada, Canada Public Service Agency, and Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada.
Prior to joining the Public Service, Ms. Lam worked in various Learning & Development positions at Algonquin College and in Japan for the Fukuoka Kencho and Takata-machi Board of Education.
Ms. Lam has a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics), as well as a Combined Honours Degree (Political Science and French) from Carleton University. She has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as Second/Foreign Language from Algonquin College. She completed the Leadership Accelerator Course from University of California, Berkeley, and is Lean Service Yellow Belt certified.
Ms. Lam is an active community volunteer and proud to have been chosen as a volunteer for Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
